Spintec Engineering GmbH is specialised on silk devices with embedded biopharmaceuticals. The company employs currently 10 employees and is winner of the Medin.NRW (2008) and Hightech.NRW (2010) competitions.

Spintec uses its innovative silk platform technology for the development of novel medical devices for wound therapy as well as for applications in the dental, maxillofacial and cardiovascular surgery.

Spintec is focused on cutting-edge research, development of an attractive product pipeline and cost-efficient manufacturing. For marketing and distribution of its medical devices, the company will seek partnerships with established medical device companies.

In May 2012, Spintec successfully closed an exclusive global partnering deal with KLS Martin Group for an innovative maxillofacial product.

In addition to in-house R&D, Spintec will continue its successful cooperation with leading academic institutes for the development of promising next generation silk technologies and products.

Spintec has established widely applicable production technologies for manufacturing of diverse medical devices from silk.

Additionally, Spintec generates transgenic silkworms for cost-effective integration of biologicals into these medical devices.
